Music Magazine: Pitch

I have decided that I want to do the genre pop for my magazine, but I want to make it appeal to older generation between 15 - 25, because most pop magazines focus on younger about 13 - 16. To make my magazine slightly different I want to include modern and old pop music and artists to attract a different audience.

Having only one main image on the front will help me achieve this audience, as you can see the first image looks more mature and would attract an older audience whereas the second looks very jam packed to attract a younger audience, also the first one has less bold colours than the second, which I also want to use and they have more of an obvious colour scheme.

I want to call  my magazine That sound because it is simple and easy to remember, also easy to see that it is a music magazine, I want a bold, but easy to read font:
For example:

 That Sound.

That sound.

However I want to mske the 'O' in 'sound' to be a record disk this is because it includes something old showing that the magazine also includes old music.

For example:

Music Magazine: Double page spread analysis

This is my analysis of a double page spread, its easy to see what audience it is aimed for because it is only a short interview and so the audience wouldn't have to do a lot of reading also the picture takes up most of the space. There is an obvious house style that matches the contents and front cover I did earlier on in my blog. Also the illustrations appeal to a younger audience, with little stars and the big speech bubble all around the page.

There are a few things from this magazine I am going to use on my own, like using pictures to take up a lot of the page as they are m ore appealing than blocks of writing, also the obvious style this magazine has, I want to show constantly through my magazine.

Music Magazine: Contents Analysis

We analysed a contents page of 'Top of the Pops Magazine'

I learnt from doing this that depending on what audience your magazine has, contents pages are set up very differently. For example with this magazine that targets young girls, means they want to find the pages of their favourite celebrities first, meaning the magazine has to make it obvious where those pages are to be found. Also the house colour can be affected by the audience depending on if they want consistency or random.

I liked some things this magazine chose to do on their contents page, I liked the way they had a picture of the front cover and made arrows to each story on the front cover making it very easy for the audience to find the story they are looking for. Also I liked the letter from the writer of the magazine, making the magazine more friendly and interactive.

Preliminary Task: Photo Shoot

I have taken my photos for my school magazine and although I won't use all of them these are the images I
Have to use. They show typical school environments and so are all suited to being in a school magazine.

I wouldn't use this photo, because of Emily's posture, she looks more bored, then interested in what she is learning, it would give out the wrong impression for my magazine.

I would use this photo becaused they both look interested in the work, also the photo is clear and in focus.

I wouldn't use this photo because although it is a good medium shot, the fire alarm in the background ruins the photo.

I wouldn't use this photo because it is slightly out of focus and wouldn't look good on my magazine.

I would use this photo as it is a good medium shot and it has a nice background of the outside of the school.

I would use this photo as it is in focus and it shows pupils working hard

I would use these two photos as background on my magazine

Preliminary Task: Draft of school magazine

These are the drafts of my front cover and contents page of my school magazine.

There are many things I chose to put in to make the audience more obvious. For example all the images of people I have included are students and I have included many images of stationery.
Also the main colours on my magazine are the schools colours, so it is an easy and obvious house style.
